Pure Heroine, by Lorde (2013)

Ginny’s Top 10

The debut album that launched New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde to stardom, Pure Heroine explores themes of youth, mainstream culture, materialism, fame, and social status. Utilizing primarily bass and preprogrammed beats, Pure Heroine has been noted for it’s minimalist production for the era. The breakaway hit was “Royals,” which Ginny personally considers one of the weaker songs on the album.

Favorite tracks include: “Glory and Gore,” “Ribs,” “400 Lux,” “A World Alone,” “Team,” and “Buzzcut Season.”
