Ginny’s Top 10
The sixth studio album by American rock duo The Black Keys, Brothers was the first album recorded at Muscle Shoals in 30 years, contributing to minimalist compositions and a bluesy central sound. Prior to its release, tensions had been building between lead singer slash guitarist Dan Auerbach, who had just recorded his first solo album (Keep It Hid, also a great listen), and drummer Patrick Carney, who worried he was being left behind. Their reconciliation led to the creation of this album, and subsequent (also fantastic) album El Camino.
Favorite tracks include: “Everlasting Light,” “Sinister Kid,” “She’s Long Gone,” “Howlin’ for You,” and “Ten Cent Pistol.”
